Whose church is it, anyway?

For most Americans, and I suspect even most Episcopal Church members, the theological struggle between the American church and the Archbishop of Canterbury goes on completely hidden in the background.

Every once in a while, the tiff becomes fodder in the secular press. A loyal reader passes along this story in which this "fight between rival versions of Anglicanism, a quarrel extending to the beginning of Anglicanism that has replayed itself periodically through the centuries down to our own time" is discussed in detail.

Though very much an inside baseball kind of topic, I found it a good read and worth passing along to those striving for completeness.

(Full disclosure: When not occupied by this day job of journalism, I am an Episcopal priest.)
