Belmont bridesmaid: Lanni-Schiappa horse runs fourth

Former MGM Mirage chairman Terry Lanni is a longtime thoroughbred owner with his partner, Las Vegas auto executive Bernie Schiappa, and it appeared the two had a possible winner in the Bob Baffert-trained Game on Dude Saturday in the running of the $1 million Belmont Stakes at Elmont, NY.

Game On Dude ran as high as second, but couldn’t maintain the pace, finishing fourth.

Ernie Moody and Los Angeles Dodgers Manager Joe Torre also own a piece of the gelding, which won the May 8 Lone Star Derby and was considered one of the smart money horses at the Belmont.
