Woman hospitalized after stabbing; suspect at large

LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL

Las Vegas police are investigating a stabbing Friday morning that left a woman in critical condition and a suspect at large.

The incident happened about 5 a.m. at a women's rehabilitation facility for alcohol and drug offenders at 4775 Pioneer Ave., near Spring Mountain Road and Decatur Boulevard.

An unidentified woman was found alone with multiple stab wounds and transported to an area hospital.

Police spokesman Sgt. Andy Walsh said the woman, who remained in critical condition six hours after the stabbing, has spoken to detectives.

According to preliminary reports, the suspect -- identified only as a black man with a red "beanie" hat -- was looking for a woman who used to live at the facility.

Robbery was not a motive, Walsh said.

"There was no relationship we can determine between the victim and the suspect," he said. "He came looking for somebody else."
