V&T steam engine to star in movie

RENO -- A historic locomotive is hitting the rails again this summer during production for a new movie.

The steam locomotive No. 18 is owned by the Nevada Commission for the Reconstruction of the V&T Railway.

The engine was transported to Southern California, where it will be filmed in an upcoming movie starring Reese Witherspoon.

The film, "Water for Elephants," is about a circus train that tours the country.

A spokesman for the movie project said the Baldwin, 1914, locomotive was trucked to the movie set location with one of the engineers who takes care of it.
