Will Reid get dirty in Blago ‘pay for play’ trial?

If it were put on the board at a political sports book, the odds would be better than even, especially now that we know that the Obama White House was unusually active and foolishly aggressive in tampering with the federal primary elections in Pennsylvania and Colorado.
I would not bet that our own Sen. Harry Reid was caught on a federal wire tap bribing then Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich. That would have come out by now.
But that said, let's stipulate that as a general rule it is never good to be caught on a federal wire tap, especially a wire tap that will likely become public in a juicy political corruption trial just about the time you will stand for the re-election of our life. (I think I heard every reader out there -- Republican and Democrat -- say "so stipulated").
I would say it is entirely possible that Reid said some things back to Blago -- who is known to have behaved more like a deranged game show host than the governor of a state -- that may raise eyebrows in the context of what others said and did, thus making Sen. Reid look pretty bad. Let's face it: If Harry Reid in this day and age could admit he opined to a reporter that Barack Obama is well suited to a presidential run because he is a "light-skinned" African American "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one," you must be prepared to think that Harry Reid could say anything on these wire taps. (I think I heard all readers -- Republican and Democrat -- say "right".)
Nevada. Fasten your seat belts. We're headed to one hot election summer and fall. The Blogo trial will be just one more turn in the road.
For a scorecard on the Blago trial that began yesterday, this story will give you a good rundown on the players.
