Valley remains under heat warning
An excessive heat warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. Monday for Southern Nevada, according to the National Weather Service.
The warning is for elevations below 4,000 feet in the Mojave Desert region. Temperatures are expected to top 100 degrees between the hours of 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. each day through Monday. High temperatures are expected to hit 109 in Las Vegas, 115 along the Colorado River Valley and 120 in Death Valley.
Valley residents are encouraged to drink plenty of fluids and to stay out of the sun as much as possible to avoid heat-related illnesses.
