Businesses to waive tab for teachers to show appreciation

In support of Teacher Appreciation Week, which lasts through Saturday, Tropical Smoothie Cafe is teaming up with the Public Education Foundation to offer Clark County School District teachers a complimentary regular-size smoothie on Tuesday.

Teachers must show their Clark County School District teacher ID to take advantage of the offer, which will be available at any of Tropical Smoothie Cafe’s 20 Southern Nevada locations during regular business hours. For 24-hour locations, the offer will be good from midnight through 11:59 p.m. The offer is good for one smoothie per teacher.

Entertainment and drinks
Also, Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar at Town Square Las Vegas, 6551 Las Vegas Blvd. South, will offer Clark County School District teachers free entry and a complimentary beverage of their choice on Thursday.

In addition, from June through August, teachers can celebrate summer vacation at Pete’s with drink specials, including $3 well drinks, $3 Miller Lite bottles and $3 glasses of wine.

To receive Teacher Appreciation Week and summer specials, teachers need to show their Clark County School District ID at the door upon entry and to their server.

Cupcakes
Lastly, Freed’s Bakery of Las Vegas plans to deliver more than 14,000 cupcakes to Clark County elementary school teachers and support staff. Through Friday, volunteer drivers and Freed's staffers will transport the cupcakes to all 200-plus elementary schools in the Clark County School District and present the cupcakes to the teachers and staff at each school.

The bakery is asking residents to help with delivery efforts. Those interested in volunteering may send an e-mail with their name, phone number and school preference to max@freedsbakery.com. All school deliveries will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, and volunteer pickups will be scheduled at both Freed’s Bakery locations: 4780 S. Eastern Ave. and 9555 S. Eastern Ave., Suite 145.
