Man shot walking on Henderson trail

HENDERSON - Henderson police say a door-to-door search yielded few clues after a 56-year-old man was shot in the neck while walking with his wife on a suburban recreation trail.

Police spokesman Keith Paul said Thursday the man was treated at an area hospital for injuries that weren't considered life-threatening and released.

Paul says the man was on a paved trail about 8:30 a.m. in the Anthem neighborhood when he felt a sharp pain in his neck and realized he'd been shot.

Police put a nearby middle school on lockdown as a precaution for several hours while detectives went from house to house in the area.

Paul says several residents reported hearing one shot.

He says police don't believe the man was threatened before the shooting.
