School district vehicle strikes child on bike

Las Vegas police and Clark County School District officials confirmed a child on a bicycle was struck by a district vehicle while trying to cross the street Friday morning and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The accident was reported at 7:40 a.m. Friday at the intersection of American Beauty Avenue and South Hollywood Boulevard.

The victim, a Harney Middle School student, was transported to UMC with lower extremity injuries, Officer Bill Cassell said. The child was not wearing a bicycle helmet.

Police are investigating the accident, he said.
