Arraignment delayed for boxing trainer Mayweather

A judge granted a delay for boxing trainer Roger Mayweather’s arraignment on felony charges that he beat and choked a female boxer at a Las Vegas apartment last August.

Clark County District Court Hearing Master Kevin Williams made it clear Tuesday that he was unhappy the 48-year-old Mayweather didn’t show for his scheduled 1:30 p.m. PST arraignment on coercion, battery-strangulation and battery causing substantial bodily harm charges.

Mayweather’s lawyer, Jack Buchanan, says Mayweather will plead not guilty.

The judge agreed to a Thursday morning time after Buchanan said Mayweather keeps a tight afternoon training schedule at a Las Vegas gym.

Among other fighters, Mayweather trains his nephew, Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Roger Mayweather is currently free on $13,000 bail.
