Foster home permit request to be delayed

A Canyon Springs High School teacher who wants a special-use permit to operate a group foster home in North Las Vegas is going to have to wait.

The North Las Vegas Planning Commission on Wednesday delayed acting on an application from Curtis Stuckey, who wants to establish a group foster home in a 4,791-square-foot residential facility. The city's requirement for group homes is a minimum of 6,500 square feet.

Last month, the commission denied two similar applications from Stuckey for separate properties. Stuckey said that he has appealed the denials and will go before the North Las Vegas City Council March 17.

Planning Commissioner Steve Brown suggested that the third application be postponed until the council acted on Stuckey's first two requests.
