Las Vegas police charged 173 people with various crimes during New Year's Eve celebrations according to statistics released Tuesday.

That's a decrease from last year's festivities when 216 arrests were made.

The latest New Year's Eve blowout resulted in the arrest of 103 people on charges of driving under the influence; 38 were arrested on various felony and misdemeanor charges. Additionally, 18 people were cited at the Clark County Detention Center and then released.

Police said 14 people were also cited for various misdemeanors at the city jail and released.

Although bookings from Las Vegas police were down, the Nevada Highway Patrol earlier reported making 82 arrests New Year's Eve on charges of driving under the influence, a significant increase from the previous year's 12 arrests.
