Medical board files complaint against Kabins

The legal problems of Dr. Mark Kabins have, perhaps inevitably, spilled over into his medical practice as evidenced by a complaint the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners filed late Wednesday, less than 10 days after Kabins pleaded guilty to misprision of a felony in federal court.

The state board charges three counts: that Kabins' conduct "brings the medical profession into disrepute"; that Kabins' recent conviction constitutes an offense "involving moral turpitude"; and that Kabins engaged in conduct "intended to deceive."

All of this does nothing for Melodie Simon, who was victimized by Kabins, and allegedly by attorney Noel Gage and medical consultant Howard Awand.

Simon is still paralyzed and will remain so regardless of what happens to this trio.

All we can hope is that none of them ever has the opportunity to harm someone else.
