Playing ketchup

Sometimes the interesting tech news of the day boils down to making something new out of something old. Such is the case today, as H.J. Heinz Co. has unveiled a ketchup packet with a dipping option.

I'm not sure why the condiment keepers didn't put their seasoned tomato puree into dipping cups years ago, but the day has finally come. Pittsburgh-based Heinz is testing the packets, which feature a tear-off end for squeezing and a peel-back corner to uncover the tomatoey bath. There's even a bonus to this technological breakthrough — the new packets have three times the ketchup, so you won't be tearing or peeling nearly as often as in the old days.
