FISHING REPORT

LAKE MEAD -- Anglers are netting shad in the shallows. Fishing has been fair to good in the Vegas Wash arm for anglers using lures and live shad. Jigging with anchovies also will catch catfish and stripers.

Anglers have been catching trout off the docks at Hemenway and Boulder Harbor with PowerBait as well as a few stripers with shad.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife stocked trout Wednesday at Boulder Harbor, Hemenway and Crawdad Cove. The NDOW will resume its weekly Friday plants Dec. 4.

LAKE MOHAVE -- Fishing is fair to good. Anglers have been catching stripers up to 5 pounds while drifting or trolling with anchovies in 30 to 50 feet of water. Catfish are biting cut and prepared baits fished on the bottom. Few largemouth anglers are catching fish with top-water and shallow-diving lures.

The NDOW planted trout Tuesday at Placer Cove and Aztec Wash. The next plant will be Dec. 1.

URBAN PONDS -- Trout fishing is good, and catfish action is fair. Popular baits for trout have been PowerBait, small lures and small flies. The limit is three fish regardless of whether you give them to someone else or keep them for yourself. An over-limit violation will cost you approximately $200 to start.

Anglers planning to catch and release should use small, single, barbless hooks and cut the line if needed.

KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- Trout fishing has been good during the warmer parts of the day. Skim ice will be found along the edges but disappears by late morning. Popular methods of catching fish have been PowerBait, Rooster Tails and woolly fly patterns.

EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- Fewer anglers are fishing here, although fishing is good. Highs have been in the 50s with lows in the teens and single digits. Skim ice has been forming around the edges of the water in the morning but melts off by midday.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- Fishing has been good. Those fishing the reservoir have been targeting rainbow trout with several variations of PowerBait. Park officials say water levels are beginning to rise, yet low levels are making fishing access difficult in some places. A small boat, canoe or float tube makes the reservoir more accessible.
