Head-on collision kills one, injures three in North Las Vegas

One person died and three people were injured Sunday in a head-on collision that North Las Vegas police believe might have been caused by a drunken driver.

Police said a white 1994 Honda Accord was traveling west on Lake Mead Boulevard toward Civic Center Drive when the driver turned into the path of a white 1998 Dodge Ram pickup that was heading east on Lake Mead at 1:15 a.m.

The 19-year-old driver of the Honda was driving at a high rate of speed and caused the head-on collision. The driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

One of the passengers in the car, a 21-year-old, was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Another passenger, an 18-year-old, was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Dodge, a 54-year-old Las Vegas woman, was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition.

Police said the driver of the Honda will face charges once the investigation into the crash is complete.

None of their names were released.
