Man, 20, arrested in slaying outside pharmacy

Las Vegas police arrested a 20-year-old man today in connection with a Thanksgiving Day slaying at a CVS Pharmacy parking lot in the northwest valley.

Police said Lionel Collins III was the gunman who left a man dead about 1 p.m. in a rolled-over car near Tenaya Way and Craig Road. Police said they suspect the shooting was linked to a drug deal.

Authorities have not released the name of the deceased. Collins was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a charge of murder with a deadly weapon. He’s being held without bail.

Witnesses told Las Vegas police that two men were parked side by side when a man in a beat-up orange car shot a man in a purple sedan.

The victim drove his car into a palm tree and the vehicle flipped. He was pronounced dead at the scene from what police said was a single gunshot wound to the chest.
