Will Saints magic help Moon?

Seeking a sign as to the probable outcome of tonight’s World Series of Poker heads-up match between Darvin Moon and Joseph Cada?

Look no further than the New Orleans Saints’ “fleur de lys” logo on Moon’s cap.

The Maryland logger’s support the NFL’s Saints has been well documented throughout the World Series of Poker. His friends are fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens and Washington Redskins.

“I like rooting for the underdog,” Moon said early Sunday morning after qualifying for final table with Cada.

Team officials became aware of Moon’s support after he qualified for the nine-player final table in July and sent him hats, shirts and other Saints logo items.

Moon told some of the Saints’ public relations staff before the NFL season started that if the team went undefeated by the time final table rolled around, he would win the event.

On Sunday, hours after Moon held on to second place, the undefeated Saints ran their record to 8-0 with a comeback victory over Carolina.

Moon enters the competition trailing Cada, who has a better than 2-to-1 advantage in tournament chips.

Maybe some to that Saints magic will wear off on Moon tonight.
