MOVIES: Special screenings — “Polar Express” chugs back to Palms

If you can't get enough of director Robert Zemeckis' cinematic holiday celebrations, 'tis the season.

Not only is his 3-D version of "A Christmas Carol" still playing all over town, the Palms' Brenden Theatres is bringing back his first foray into motion-capture animation, "The Polar Express," for a two-weekend visit.

Tom Hanks stars (and stars and stars and stars and stars, playing six roles, from Scrooge to Santa Claus) in this IMAX 3D adaptation of Chris Van Allsburg's book about a magical train bound for the North Pole, with a boy who doubts Santa's existence aboard.

"Polar Express" returns to the Palms at 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday (Dec. 5 and 6), with additional 11 a.m. shows Dec. 12 and 13. Admission is $5.
