Who’s next, Jon?
Sun resident egotist Jon Ralston blogged Wednesday afternoon to whine and parse about the R-J getting wrong little pieces of a story about the Greenspun Media Group's cutbacks. As usual, the whole story involving the lost jobs of his fellow employees was filtered through the Ralston "its-all-about-me" lens. Mind you, the story Jon doesn't like is a story that the Sun did not report until days after it was reported everywhere else.
You can read the current Sun story on the layoffs here. Notice that the Sun does not allow readers to comment on the story.

It's also important to note that this is a story upon which Greenspun editors and execs refused to return phone calls from an R-J reporter for almost a full week. In complaining about the R-J's modest and appropriate coverage, Ralston doesn't even take the time to report what may be going on with his obviously troubled employer. Maybe he doesn't know. Or maybe he can't say. Whatever the case, he provides no information about the whispers of a company strapped for cash amid a family rift, massive newsroom discontent, staff resignations, management demotions and the fear of more cuts coming, including two higher-profile writers.
This is quintessential Jon Ralston analysis: Drawing attention to minutia to distract from the meaning.
