Police say man killed in robbery attempt

A 19-year-old man was shot and killed in an apparent robbery attempt early Sunday morning in the southwest valley.

Las Vegas police said the man had just returned home with his girlfriend about 2:25 a.m. after seeing a movie. The victim lived at 3410 Edenville Drive, near Desert Inn and Cimarron roads.

A black car pulled up behind them. A black male exited the vehicle, approached the victim and demanded his money, according to police.

The suspect began beating the victim with a firearm and shot the victim at least once, according to police.

The suspect fled the scene in the black car with a Hispanic man and an Asian man, according to police. The car may be a Nissan Altima. The victim was taken to University Medical Center where he died.

Just five minutes before that crime, the same car with the same suspect attempted to rob someone at the intersection of Darby Avenue and Buffalo Drive, near Desert Inn, according to police.

The victim in that case has not yet been located.

Anyone with information on the crimes is urged to call the department’s homicide section at 828-3700 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 385-5555.
