Motorcyclist killed in crash on Nellis

A 27-year-old motorcyclist was killed when he slammed into a car at a high rate of speed today.

Las Vegas police said the man was driving north on Nellis Boulevard at 5:33 p.m. when he came to the intersection at Stewart Avenue. An ambulance with its emergency lights and siren on also entered the intersection. Instead of yielding to the ambulance, the motorcyclist accelerated, police said.

A Toyota Camry driven south on Nellis by 69-year-old Barbara Gentry was making a left turn to enter a private drive just north of Stewart, police said.

The motorcyclist was unable to avoid the Toyota and struck the right side of the car.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not released.
