Arrests follow failed ‘integrity check’ at Rio’s Sapphire Pool

The “integrity check” failed Saturday by the Rio’s Sapphire Pool was followed by the arrests of nine women on prostitution, drug or obstruction charges by undercover Las Vegas police investigators.

Seven women were arrested for soliciting prostitution. An eighth woman was arrested on drug charges and a ninth woman was arrested for obstructing a police officer. A man was arrested on multiple drug charges.

The arrests came after Harrah’s Entertainment, which owns the Rio, asked the police to conduct the check on the adult-themed pool that featured topless dancers from the Sapphire Gentleman’s Club.

The company routinely asks police to conduct periodic integrity checks on its nightclubs, pools and other amenities to make sure they are operating within the law.

The pool has been closed indefinitely and Harrah’s terminated its relationship with the gentleman’s club, according to a Harrah’s spokesman.
