HEAD OF THE CLASS
• ARBOR VIEW -- Girls volleyball player Micaila McErlean had 12 digs and 10 kills against Foothill. Football player Thomas Flanagan had 141 receiving yards, 39 rushing yards, two touchdowns and seven tackles in a 38-13 win over Centennial.
• BONANZA -- Girls golfer Michelle Miller averaged 52 for nine holes.
• BOULDER CITY -- Football player Devin Combs had 15 carries for 179 yards and two touchdowns, and returned a kickoff 90 yards for a TD.
• CALVARY CHAPEL -- Football player Justin Cox rushed for 50 yards and a touchdown, had five total tackles and a sack against Rite of Passage. Girls volleyball player Brettani Davis had 73 digs and 19 aces in the Lady Trojan Invitational in Pahrump, leading the Lions to the team title.
• CENTENNIAL -- Boys tennis player J.C. Pauli went 5-0 in singles in two matches.
• CIMARRON-MEMORIAL -- Football player James Poole rushed for 174 yards on 13 carries in a 44-7 victory over Cheyenne. Girls tennis players Solena Mednicoff and Stephanie Kaplan went 5-1 in doubles matches against Durango and Foothill.
• CLARK -- Boys soccer player Juan Regalado scored the tying goal against Cimarron-Memorial and had two assists in a 4-1 win over Cheyenne.
• CORONADO -- Girls tennis player Jordan Luna went 8-1 in singles to lead the Cougars to three victories. Boys cross country runner Austin Parker won the freshman-sophomore boys race at the Falcon Invitational, covering the 2.5-mile course in 14 minutes, 16 seconds.
• DESERT OASIS -- Girls cross country runner Angela Vargas finished seventh in a tri-meet at Pahrump Valley. Boys tennis players Max Goldman and Garrison Lopez-Quizon improved to 8-1 in doubles this season.
• DESERT PINES -- Boys soccer player Cruz Cortes had a total of four goals in wins over Basic and Del Sol.
• LAUGHLIN -- Girls cross country runner Kemberley Mejia placed fourth in the freshman girls race at the Labor Day Classic at Palo Verde. Boys runner Cody McGeshick placed seventh in the junior boys race at the Labor Day Classic.
• LAS VEGAS -- Boys soccer player Joaquin Rivas had the winning goal in the team's first two games.
• THE MEADOWS -- Freshman running back Chase Marrs rushed for 124 yards and three touchdowns and returned an interception 34 yards for a TD in a 74-13 win over Sunrise Mountain. Girls volleyball player Laura Walsh had five aces, six kills and eight digs in a 3-0 victory over Trinity.
• MOUNTAIN VIEW -- Football player T.J. Engel rushed for 73 yards and two touchdowns and passed for 149 yards and a TD in a 32-28 victory over Army and Navy Academy. Girls volleyball player Kayla Kirk had seven aces, 21 kills and 13 blocks in the Lady Trojan Invitational.
• PALO VERDE -- Girls tennis player Nikki Levy went 3-0 in doubles against Bonanza. Football player Tyrone Blake had 10 carries for 139 yards and a touchdown, and recorded four tackles in a 52-0 win over Mojave.
• RANCHO -- Girls tennis player Abony Moore is 6-3 in singles.
• SIERRA VISTA -- Boys cross country runner Davawn Price placed fourth in a meet with Desert Oasis and Arbor View. Girls volleyball player Kayla Forte had 21 digs to lead the Mountain Lions to a 3-1 win over Las Vegas.
• SILVERADO -- Boys tennis player Justin Estell went 5-1 in singles in wins over Las Vegas and Valley. Girls tennis players Gianna Strong and Rachel Williams teamed to go 4-0 in doubles in wins over Las Vegas and Valley.
• TECH -- Girls cross country runner Taylor Coss won the Frosh/Soph race at the Falcon Invitational, covering the 2.5-mile course in 16 minutes, 23.9 seconds.
• VALLEY -- Boys soccer player Carlos Flores had a goal in a 2-2 tie with Tech.
