Today’s heat could be a record-breaker

Top off the water bottle because today's high temperature could be one for the record books. An excessive heat warning is in effect until 7 p.m. as temperatures inch toward 110 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

If the heat rises to that temperature, it will beat the record for today of 109 degrees, set in 1940.
