Tiger from magic act escapes, is recaptured by its owners

A tiger belonging to a magic act briefly ran loose in a northwest Las Vegas neighborhood after it escaped from its keepers Thursday night.

Las Vegas police Lt. Les Lane said a resident on the 6200 block of Dorrell Lane, near Elkhorn Road and Torrey Pines Drive, called police at 9:07 p.m. after spotting the tiger.

The big cat's owners chased the animal down the street and captured it. Lane said the tiger is owned by Fernando Brothers Magic Act.

"It got loose and they got it back into custody," he said.

Animal control officers were dispatched to advise the tiger's owners on a proper holding pen for the animal, Lane said.
