Storms ignite wildfires in Spring Mountains

Thunderstorms sparked dozens of wildfires in the Spring Mountains this weekend, including 11 that were active as of this afternoon, officials with the Spring Mountain National Recreation Area said.

The largest fire is about 40 acres in size, between Trout and Lovell canyons, near the La Madre Mountain Wilderness, officials said.

There were also fires near Cold Creek, Wallace Canyon, Kyle Canyon and Lee Canyon, officials said. Interagency fire crews were working to suppress 11 fires today. Officials said no injuries have occurred and no structures have been damaged.
