House of Adultery?

An ex-congressman from Mississippi who was a housemate of Sen. John Ensign is being accused of adultery by his estranged wife, the Associated Press reports.

One of the more intriguing subplots of Ensign's sex scandal has been the role of the C Street house where he rents a room while in Washington, along with other conservative Christian lawmakers.

The house, which is owned by a secretive church foundation, is where former Rep. Chip Pickering, R-Miss., was living when he was allegedly having an affair, according to a lawsuit filed this week by his estranged wife, Leisha Pickering.

The house is the link between Ensign and the other Republican scandal du jour, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, who has said he sought counsel from "C Street" for his own matters of the heart.

And it's where Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., another Ensign housemate, has acknowledged he confronted Ensign and advised him to end his fling with Cindy Hampton last year.
