City offers online licensing renewals

A new feature on the city of Las Vegas Web site, www.lasvegasnevada.gov, gives pet owners the ability to renew pet licenses online instead of waiting in line.

By visiting www.lasvegasnevada.gov/Pay/petlicense.htm, pet owners can choose to renew a license online via a credit card payment. Residents can also renew licenses via mail or in person at the city of Las Vegas Treasurer's Office, City Hall, sixth floor, 400 Stewart Ave. Those looking to apply for a new license must do so via mail or in person. License application forms also are available online.

According to municipal code, all dogs, cats and ferrets 4 months of age and older owned, kept, harbored or possessed in the city of Las Vegas must be licensed. Pet licenses are $25 a year, with licenses for spayed and neutered animals costing only $10 a year. Service dogs are free to license.

Licensing pets helps to identify pets that are lost, helps to prevent the spread of rabies and encourages responsible pet ownership.
