2-year-old boy found in pool hospitalized

A 2-year-old boy was hospitalized in critical condition Sunday afternoon after being found in a pool at a home near Flamingo Road and Jones Boulevard, an official with Las Vegas police said.

Lisa Teele, a civilian supervisor with Las Vegas police's Child Abuse and Neglect Detail, said, "At this point in time, it would appear it's a tragic accident."

She said the child's parents were home when the toddler was found in the pool, as were three other children ranging in age from 4 to 10.

Medical student wins Miss Nevada title

A 23-year-old University of Utah medical student was crowned Miss Nevada, a day after organizers solved a mystery over the disappearance of the $400 crown.

Christina Keegan of Gardnerville beat out 11 other women for the title Saturday night.

She wore the crown after pageant organizers discovered Friday that an apologetic volunteer who misplaced it, not a thief, was to blame for the crown's disappearance.
