Restoration near complete after water main failure

Water is being restored to about 2,000 people affected by a water main failure early today near Sahara Avenue and Nellis Boulevard, Las Vegas Valley Water District officials said tonight.

Water was shut off in the area to stop the flow of water that caused a 20-foot by 20-foot hole at the intersection around 2 a.m. Repair crews worked to fix the water main failure and now are working on repairing the road, said Roger Buehrer, water district spokesman.

Traffic in the area may still be affected but water pressure in homes and businesses will be back to normal within the hour, Buehrer said.
