Deputy accused of assaulting woman

A Nye County sheriff's office deputy was arrested after being accused of assaulting a woman while driving her home from a local bar earlier this month.

Deputy William John Tidmarsh was giving the woman a ride home on Feb. 8 after she had been drinking.

She alleged a lewd incident occurred while they were en route to her home. Other details of the incident were not released.

Tidmarsh, 41, was booked into the Nye County jail on charges of open and gross lewdness, second-degree kidnapping, battery and oppression under color of office. He was freed on bail.

NORTHBOUND U.S. 95

Woman dies when car hits offramp wall

A woman died Monday night in a three-car crash that happened as she was exiting northbound U.S. Highway 95 at Lake Mead Boulevard, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

Trooper Kevin Honea did not release the victim's name. The woman was driving a Chevrolet sedan about 8:15 p.m. when she hit the offramp wall. She was rear-ended by a car that pushed her onto East Lake Mead Boulevard, where a third vehicle clipped her.

The woman died at University Medical Center. The cause of the crash is under investigation. No other major injuries occurred.

AMBULANCE REAR-ENDED

Paramedic suffers broken leg in crash

A paramedic suffered a broken leg when her ambulance was rear-ended by a vehicle near Rainbow Boulevard and Spring Valley Parkway early Monday.

The driver of the second vehicle was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on charges of felony driving under the influence, Las Vegas police said.

The paramedic had stopped near the intersection to help a stranded motorist around 5:30 a.m. She was returning to the passenger side of the ambulance when the crash occurred, police Lt. L. Chavez said.

She was taken to University Medical Center for treatment of nonlife threatening injury. Chavez said the paramedic was halfway in the ambulance when the vehicle was hit.

No one else was injured, police said. Identities of the driver and others were not released.

Female pedestrian hit by tractor-trailer dies

A female pedestrian died after she was hit by a tractor-trailer early Monday on U.S. Highway 95 near Laughlin, Las Vegas police said.

The identities of the victim and the truck driver involved in the 5:36 a.m. incident were not released by Las Vegas police or the Nevada Highway Patrol. The incident is under investigation.

It is unclear whether the incident was a suicide, Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Kevin Honea said.
