Wetlands Park fire scorches six acres

About six acres of land burned this afternoon at the Wetland Parks, the Clark County Fire Department said.

Department spokesman Tim Szymanski said firefighters were called to the park about 12:40 p.m. He did not know the cause of the fire, but said that no one was injured and no buildings were threatened.

The Wetland Parks is a nature preserve located near the far east end of Tropicana Avenue.

Szymanski said firefighters expect to have the fire contained by 3 p.m.

“The smoke is dissipating,” Szymanski said. “We’re going to let the fire burn itself out.”
