A long-suffering Cardinal fan

As a long-suffering Arizona Cardinal fan, I stood in the stadium in Glendale, Arizona, yesterday in disbelief. Some 40 years ago, as a kid I rode my bike where this stadium now stands. Then it was dairy and farm land. Who'd-a-thunk it. We had won the National Football Conference championship and were headed to the Super Bowl. It felt like being part of a strange man-bites-dog story,  rolled into the premise of the movie "Revenge of the Nerds" and topped off with the idea that tomorrow a black guy will be president of the United States.

"Did that just happen?" said one sign displayed by a fan. "Exactly," I thought.

We lingered in the stadium after the game ended. Then Christina and our two sons made our way to a Mexican cantina where the bar was four-deep with Cardinal fans. We met our son-in-law and his friend, who were also at the game. We six Las Vegans celebrated for a very long time.

As a Cardinal fan it was good ... and strange.

Below are a couple photos after the game.
