Two bodies found Saturday after possible boating accident

A 70-year-old man is confirmed dead and authorities have found a second body after a possible Friday boating accident on Lake Mohave.

National Park Service spokesman Andrew Muñoz said two Pahrump men were reported missing about 4 p.m. Friday by one of their wives.

The men, ages 70 and 74, went onto the lake about 8 a.m. in a 12-foot aluminum boat, Muñoz said. Rescue crews searched for them until about 10:30 p.m. Friday.

They resumed the search about 6:30 a.m. Saturday and found the body of the 70-year-old man about 9:30 a.m. at Tamarisk Cove. A second body was found in Nine Mile Cove at 4:30 p.m., and the search has been suspended while the identity of the second body is confirmed, Munoz said.

Authorities don't know what caused the deaths, but Muñoz said there were high winds on the lake on Friday.

The identities of the two men were not released.
