Loux got $50,000 more pay than allowed

CARSON CITY — New analysis prepared by the state budget director and a state auditor released today show that former Agency for Nuclear Projects administrator Bob Loux received at least $50,000 more than he was entitled to receive during his last three years and three months on the job.

Budget Director Andrew Clinger told the state Ethics Commission that he examined actual pay records for Loux to come up with a finding that the administrator received $54,921 more than his legislatively approved salary.

Auditor Steve Weinberger said his audit showed Loux received $57,260 more than his approved salary during the same period.

There was no explanation given during the ethics hearing today for the differences in the two findings.

Ethics Commission Chairman Mark Hutchison announced members will decide today whether Loux violated ethics laws. Loux has been accused of increasing his salary and those of his staff without permission from governors.

Loux is expected to testify this afternoon.

If found guilty of guilty of breaking state ethics laws, Loux could be levied a civil fine.

Loux also could be charged criminally.
