Las Vegas Sands lays off 283

Las Vegas Sands Corp. laid off 283 Las Vegas employees today at both the corporate and property levels.

Company spokesman Ron Reese said the layoffs came from several departments and included management positions in the company’s corporate headquarters and at The Venetian and Palazzo.

In December, Las Vegas Sands laid of 216 employees at The Venetian and Palazzo as part of a cost savings program that was targeting $100 million in annual savings.

As of Dec. 31, Las Vegas had 28,500 employees companywide, which includes its two casinos in Macau.
