Gov. Gibbons’ re-election campaign funds lagging

Gov. Jim Gibbons, who has vowed to run for re-election in 2010, raised only about $260,000 in campaign cash in 2008, according to his campaign finance report filed with the secretary of state.

Gibbons' contributions totaled $258,700 for the year, according to the report, a relatively small amount.

Other politicians hoping to take on Gibbons in two years are stockpiling far more cash. For example, Clark County Commissioner Rory Reid has raised more than $1 million.

Gibbons also raised $152,000 for his legal defense fund during 2008.
