Ex-inmate indicted on gun charges
A 24-year-old man who was imprisoned for his role in a 2002 Las Vegas homicide was indicted this week on charges that he possessed a stolen gun.
Christopher Divich was indicted after authorities said he was found with a stolen gun in December. He faces charges of an ex-felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm.
At the age of 16, Divich was involved in the slaying of a 36-year-old man. Divich, another teen, Sean Hazlehurst, and a 21-year-old woman named Jamie Hein were accused of killing Timothy Herman. Herman was the boyfriend of Hein's aunt.
Hein stabbed Herman in the heart with a steak knife, authorities said. Her attorneys said she was acting in self-defense.
Divich and Hazlehurst were charged with murdering Herman and beating him.
They pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter with a deadly weapon and were sentenced to four- to 10-year prison terms. Divich completed his sentence in 2008.
Hein was convicted of second-degree murder.
