No more monkey business at Railroad Pass

MGM Mirage brass were none-too-happy to discover one of their company's own gift shops was selling mechandise that likely infringed on the "What happens here, stays here," trademark.

The offending merchandise was noticed recently on the rack in a gift shop at Railroad Pass, a small MGM property near Boulder City.

Shirts for sale in the shop featured three monkeys and the words, "What happens in Vegas ... stays in Vegas!"

Scrubbing the world of unapproved uses of the famous Las Vegas slogan has been something boosters at the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority have pursued zealously.

MGM Mirage officials sit on the board of the tourism group. Company spokesman Gordon Absher says the gift shop at Railroad Pass doesn't fall under the company's main retail chain-of-command. But you can bet the shop will get some more scrutiny.

"We'll be watching things closely in the future," Absher said.
