AROUND TOWN: Local restaurant group expands with Hawaiian barbecue

With many people dining out less, it may seem like a tough time for restaurants to try to expand their businesses. But China A Go Go, a locally based chain with eight locations scattered around the Vegas Valley, recently branched out with a new cuisine.

There are now two locations for Aloha A Go Go, at 10550 Southern Highlands Parkway and a new store at 2101 N. Rainbow Blvd.

Where China A Go Go offers traditional Chinese favorites cooked fresh, Aloha A Go Go serves its version of Hawaiian home cooking. Popular dishes include lunch or dinner plates of crispy fried Chicken Katsu or slow cooked Kalua Pork, served, of course, with steamed rice and macaroni salad. The restaurant owners are hoping Aloha A Go Go will grow into a neighborhood takeout favorite just as their original Chinese food joints did.

Aloha A Go Go is open from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily and until 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
