LV building official chosen

The Las Vegas City Council tapped Chris Knight to be the director of the city's Building and Safety Department, a post he had been filling on an interim basis.

He needed to pass a certified building official exam to occupy the post permanently, and he did that recently.

Knight has been with the city since 1998, starting as the manager of the comprehensive planning division. He went on to be the deputy director of planning and development and, prior to the latest appointment, was director of administrative services.

Before coming to Las Vegas he served as executive director of the city of Green Bay/Brown County Planning Commission, and also was a senior planner for the city of Green Bay, Wis.
