Man gets 10-25 years in prison after pleading guilty in brother’s stabbing death

A 21-year-old man accused of stabbing his brother to death was sentenced to spend 10 to 25 years in prison.

District Judge David Wall sentenced Francisco Franco-Ordonez after he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for the slaying of his brother Albino Franco-Ordonez, 25, on April 8, 2007.

“I feel bad about what happened to my brother,” Franco-Ordonez told the judge Monday. “He was my own blood.”

Defense attorneys said Franco-Ordonez was intoxicated at the time of the incident and didn’t recall what happened.

Authorities said the brothers got into a fight at an apartment complex at 5100 E. Tropicana Avenue, near Nellis Boulevard, before the stabbing.

Authorities said that shortly after the stabbing, Franco-Ordonez, who had no prior criminal history, was overheard yelling, “Who's the big man now?”
