MORNING LINE: Krolicki’s ‘conspirators’ list

Now that Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki has been indicted on charges he fraudulently mishandled state funds in his previous duties as Treasurer, it's time we started to study his list of of the people who are supposedly behind all his troubles and working on behalf of Majority Leader Harry Reid.

Krolicki has been named as a possible opponent to run against Reid, and Reid is certainly no stranger to political brawling and in-fighting.

But I wonder if Reid really has so much influence in Nevada Democratic Party politics that he is capable of guiding the hands of so many people. From Assemblywoman Sheila Leslie, to Treasurer Kate Marshall, to Chief Deputy Attorney General Conrad Hafen, to AG Catherine Cortez Masto, they’d all have to be under Harry Svengali’s spell in order to pull that off.

But Krolicki left out the name of one man who has every reason to want him to take a tumble.

It’s Gov. Jim Gibbons, a fellow Republican. Surely Gibbons knows that Krolicki was all but measuring the drapes in the Governor’s Office only a few months ago when Gibbons’ popularity was at its lowest point and there was talk he might resign.

By the time this is over, I will bet the list of supposed conspirators is a long one.
