The double-dipping scam

Here's a nifty little public employee scam that Nevada ought to keep an eye on ... and stop. This kind of double-dipping is gross and in this economic environment almost criminal.

In California, it worked like this. An employee for the University of California takes a buyout, cashes the big, fat severance check, then goes back to work at the University of California in another location. According to the San Francisco Chronicle an aide to the university president took a $100,202 buyout from the university's Oakland headquarters, then took a six-figure job on the Cal campus a few miles away.

Shameful. UNLV Chancellor Jim Rogers, Regents and Legislators should be on the lookout for such abuses.
