Henderson officers find charred body

Two Henderson police officers found a charred body Friday morning off Las Vegas Boulevard at the southern end of the valley.

Police didn't know the gender or identification of the body found about 8:30 a.m. near Larson Lane, south of St. Rose Parkway, and were treating the case as a homicide, said Lt. Troy Hatch, a police spokesman.

After the discovery, police on horseback searched the remote desert south of the Henderson Executive Airport for any other bodies. A motorcycle was found a few hundred yards from the body, but Henderson police were unsure whether the two scenes were related.

Detectives were looking for any link between their case and two scorched bodies discovered last week off state Route 160.

An ATV rider found those bodies Nov. 11 in a burned car near Hualapai Way. Las Vegas police said the victims, both in their mid-20s, were executed with gunshots to the head.

A day earlier North Las Vegas police found two bodies near a pickup at the base of the Sheep Mountains, a few miles north of Losee Road and the Las Vegas Beltway.

The events were believed to be unrelated.

Henderson police are working with both agencies to see if there are links to Friday's discovery, Hatch said.
