CSN police chief removed

The College of Southern Nevada's campus police chief has been removed from his job and replaced.

College President Michael Richards wouldn't go into details on Friday, calling it a personnel matter.

Chief Sandy Seda was placed on paid administrative leave Thursday. Deputy Chief Daniel Bennett was installed as interim chief.

Seda, who was hired in 2002, earns $120,000 annually. He is a former Marine who served in Iraq in 2003.

His ouster comes on the heels of the indictment of the college's associate vice president for facilities management, Bob Gilbert. Gilbert and three of his deputies face felony charges in an investigation that alleges he used CSN equipment and employees to build his house. They have all pleaded not guilty.

Gilbert was indicted in September after an investigation by the attorney general's office.

Richards said the decision to remove Seda as police chief was not directly related to the Gilbert case.
