Obama rallies Reno crowd of 11,000

RENO -- Not even a temporary power outage could stop Sen. Barack Obama from firing up a crowd of about 11,000 here today, his first campaign stop after taking a brief time out to be with his ailing grandmother in Hawaii.

Obama's campaign talk came to a halt about 12 minutes in at the University of Nevada, Reno campus, when his microphone became unplugged. Jokingly suggesting it was the work of his opponent's supporters, the Democratic presidential nominee continued his remarks about three minutes later.

He urged the crowd to vote early and not listen to the last-minute attacks leveled at him by Sen. John McCain or his supporters in the last 10 days of the election.

"Because one of the things we know is that change never comes without a fight," Obama said.
