Former R-J ad manager dies

CARSON CITY -- Former Nevada newspaper executive Jack D. King died Friday in a Tonopah hospital. He was 81.

King was advertising manager for the Las Vegas Review-Journal from 1964 to 1969, and general manager of the Nevada Appeal in Carson City from 1969 to 1978. Both were part of the Donald W. Reynolds Media Group at the time.

After leaving Carson City, King returned to Southern Nevada where he worked for the North Las Vegas Valley Times and later went into real estate.

In the early 1990s he moved to Sparks where he lived with his son, Steven King. He moved to Tonopah with his son in September.
