Trooper charged in crash free on bail

A Highway Patrol sergeant is free on bail pending a court appearance next week on charges that he smoked marijuana before causing an off-duty crash that killed one person and hurt two others.

Clark County jail records show 46-year-old Edward Lattin was released after a judge set bail Thursday at $50,000.

The judge also ordered Lattin to submit to random drug tests and give up driving.

Lattin faces two to 20 years in prison if convicted of felony DUI resulting in death. He remains suspended with pay.
